BOISE, Idaho — An Idaho Transportation Department inspector is being recognized after springing into action when a serious crash involving an overturned Jeep and a semi-truck unfolded near the East Boise Port of Entry.
According to the Idaho Transportation Department, ITD Inspector Brayden was working at the port of entry on Friday, Aug. 7, when a passing motorist alerted him to a serious crash on the eastbound side.
Brayden immediately responded to the scene, where he found an overturned Jeep, a damaged semi-truck and a small grass fire.
ITD Inspector Brayden is being recognized for helping rescue and care for a driver trapped after a serious crash near the East Boise Port of Entry.

Inspector Moves to Protect Crash Scene
With approaching motorists creating an additional hazard, Brayden positioned his ITD vehicle to help protect the crash scene and divert traffic before turning his attention to the people involved.
The Jeep driver was trapped inside the overturned vehicle.
Several Good Samaritans at the scene worked together to safely free the driver, according to ITD.
Once the driver was out, Brayden retrieved first-aid supplies and blankets from his work vehicle and helped care for the injured motorist.
A nurse and two members of the Idaho National Guard also stopped and assisted with the emergency response while the group waited for first responders to arrive.
Driver Survives
After emergency crews arrived, Brayden remained at the crash site and continued assisting with traffic control until Idaho State Police took over the scene.
Most importantly, the Jeep driver survived the crash.
ITD praised Brayden for his actions, describing the situation as a case of being the “right place, right time, right guy.”
The incident also highlights the role transportation workers and passing motorists can play during the critical first minutes following a serious highway crash. In this case, an inspector, a nurse, National Guard members and other Good Samaritans worked together until professional emergency responders could take over.
“We’re proud to have people like Brayden on the ITD team,” the Idaho Transportation Department said in its account of the incident.
